America Makes & ANSI Additive Manufacturing Inspection/Monitoring Virtual Event

America Makes and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) announced today the release of a report of their December 8th virtual event on additive manufacturing inspection and monitoring hosted by the America Makes and ANSI Additive Manufacturing Standardization Collaborative (AMSC).

The event featured speakers from industry (aerospace and medical), government, and academia. The program’s morning session was a series of presentations related to applied research, industry standards and guidance documents, focusing on in-situ process monitoring and nondestructive evaluation (NDE) for additively manufactured parts. The afternoon featured a panel discussion on issues and standardization gaps related to inspection/monitoring (in-situ and NDE) to facilitate certification of AM parts. The report includes links to a recording of the event and to the presentations given.

The December 8 event was the most recent in a series of events to further develop and refine the AMSC Standardization Roadmap for Additive Manufacturing, last published in June 2018. The AMSC was established in 2016 to coordinate and accelerate the development of industrywide standards and specifications needed to grow the additive manufacturing industry. The group continues to track progress by standards developing organizations and others to address the gaps and recommendations identified in the roadmap.
